Buy precious metal miners in the mid-80s zone

The GDX hit the lowest level today since early January. So even with this large pullback, it's actually still up on the year. And it's approaching levels where you saw the peak back in October. Mid-80s is where you wanna pick up GDX or the subsequent miners within it, if you feel you need to up your position in precious metals.

Opioid use likely stems from Tiger's intense physical ramp-up

Now that he's in ramp-up mode, does that mean the pain meds need to be elevated? And did that just sort of change the overall risk paradigm? Like, oh, you know, I'm going to practice. That means I have to take the pain meds.

Delay Roth conversions until low-income gap years

The better course of action for the vast majority of people is to roll that old 403B or 401K into a traditional IRA. No tax consequences, opens you up to as many investment options pretty much as you want, and then at a future date, then you could roll it over into a Roth IRA. Typically, that is the time between retiring and taking Social Security.

Tiger served as the de facto leader for players

Tiger also kind of occupies that same space. One of the roles that Tiger was playing in trying to provide direction to the PGA Tour and Brian Rollap was really the voice of the players. He was, there's no union, they're not organized, but I really was sort of likening him to the head of the players union.

Joe House

Preferred stocks carry high interest rate sensitivity

Most preferreds are going to be rate sensitive. When interest rates rise, prices can fall pretty sharply, even if the issuer is financially healthy. There's also the call risk, reinvestment risk. Many issues are callable, meaning companies can redeem them if rates fall, forcing investors to reinvest at lower yields. They work best as more of a supplemental income tool, not really a core holding.

Tiger Woods faces a career-threatening personal and physical crisis

He was carrying an extremely large load in terms of participation in the redirection of the tour. He's been a crucial element and a person in Rolap's year for how the tour might refashion itself. He has been a super active participant in the TGL and the viability of that property really depends on him.

Fonseca must improve recognition of short balls

Fonseca didn't recognize the quality of his ball enough to anticipate his opponent dropping the next ball short. Right? So he he wasn't looking for the short ball. And then once he got the short ball, his feet weren't quick enough to get up to it. It's a two pronged issue, but I see this sometimes with Fonseca, and it really should never happen. You should never have to slice four hands after your opponent just played defense.

Fertilizer supply faces geopolitical and price risks

A lot of people are focusing on oil, but the components that are making up fertilizer, a lot of that comes from the Middle East and passes through the Strait of Hormuz. I have heard stories, been talking to people, farmers who are already worried about the cost of fertilizer. It's not just a cost thing. At a certain point, it becomes less about how much you have to pay and if you'll be able to pay at all.

Alexander Zverev is a primary French Open contender

I love answering questions about the French Open. We haven't played a tournament on clay yet. It's my favorite. Zverev. I mean, he's been in the final. He's won master series on it. Like you go back and you recreate his career and you take out those names you just said, and he's looking at five or six slams.

Andy Roddick

LeBron James defines the gold standard for career sustainability

It makes me appreciate LeBron even more, like the career he's had, and how little went wrong, and the stuff we nipped on is all like stupid shit, right? But for the most part, like he really handled his business. When you think like, just being like a child prodigy, basically all the way through, it's about as good as it's gonna go.

FCC moves to ban Chinese electronics testing

The FCC plans to tighten its requirements for testing of electronic devices made in countries such as China before they can be sold to US consumers. The Commission will review an order this month that bans device testing conducted by labs that are owned or controlled directly by entities that pose national security risks. According to a statement by FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr, he identified China as one example of such a country.

Ben Shelton's serve remains effective on clay

I mean, that serve translates anywhere. Potato patch, like when you can serve 140 and then kick it over someone's head both ways. That tends to work. His ball flight on his forehand naturally has a lot of spin on it. You know, I think as the surfaces have become kind of more mono-surface, I think the entire thing is like, can Ben beat me today with his backhand? Which is tough because there's only so many people that can neutralize the serve.

Andy Roddick

NCAA faces crisis as tennis programs are dropped

The challenge is actually that programs have been dropped. So no one's getting the opportunity because the money is going towards NIL. So I actually think it's a bit of a crisis. I think that we gotta, like, lean in big time and, and find a way to stop those programs from being dropped because those are the opportunities.

Military draft registration will become automatic

The Trump administration says it's taking steps toward automatic registration for the military draft. The selective service has required eligible men ages 18 to 25 to register since 1980, and that could change later this year. The agency says it will begin registering men automatically instead of requiring them to sign up themselves.

Clay court surfaces vary significantly by region

If you take green clay and rub it between your fingers, it'll probably feel a little bit more like salt, like where it's kind of hard and firm. If you go to like Roland Garros, it's almost like powder, like it's like baking powder. Like they all are a little bit different. I like the thick clay because I wasn't a native mover. I feel like I could commit a little bit more. Whereas like, you know, the European clay can really like expose movement because you have to be so precise and light and like flow.

Lebanon faces a severe food security crisis

In the capital Beirut, rescuers are still pulling bodies from the rubble of a 100 Israeli strikes in ten minutes on what local media dubbed Black Wednesday, when more than 300 people were killed according to Lebanon's government. The World Food Programme says the Israeli invasion has disrupted supply lines, leaving Lebanon in a food security crisis.

Bitcoin bear market likely persists until 2027

I've looked at charts for 25 plus years now, and when it hits a certain level and then just sells off considerably, that is a sign of momentum ending or waning. In the last six months, I said, the bear market is likely to go until 2027. It will find likely a bottom in 2027. Where that is, I do not know. We shall see. Very well could go below 50,000 this year.

Alcaraz will exploit Vacherot with high spinny forehands

Carlos is gonna hit high, spinny forehands into Vacheron's forehand. And Vacheron has a lot of height, but when you can kinda take the pace off and try to get it up out of his strike zone, I'm not sure how Vashero's gonna handle that ball. DMinore can't hit that ball. It's actually antithetical to how Demonor hits his forehand cross court. He can't really hit it with a lot of height and spin. He's not going to. Alcaraz will.

Gael Monfils sets French record for Masters wins

On Sunday, ranked 200 in the world and playing with a wild card, the 39 year old came back from a set down to beat world number 32 Tallon Griesbauer. That made him the oldest match winner in Monte Carlo since 1973 and gave him a 145 masters one thousand match wins, the most by any French player in history.

Limited domestic clay access hinders American performance

Clay is rare. It's not the default service in the States. Like warmer climates, there's more clay, right? You go to Florida and there's way more clay. But I always heard that, I was like, we have to do something to make our players better on clay all the time. You know, we need to play year round on clay. I'm like, I don't know, there's three Grand Slams on hardened grass. Like, are we going to commit time and resources to, like, addressing the worst of it and still have to go through RAFA? That doesn't seem smart.

US fertility rates continue a steady decline

This latest drop means roughly 710,000 fewer babies were born in The US in 2025 compared with the peak in 2007. Lead CDC researcher, Brady Hamilton, says the steady drop in US fertility is sizable and has persisted for almost twenty years. Since 2007, there's been a decline in the general fertility rate of twenty three percent.

Brazil ends Morse code license requirements

The Brazilian regulator will no longer require Morse code for amateur licenses under the changes that have been under consideration since 2020. The regulator will update content in its exams for its three license classes. This is one of several changes contained in a resolution released on April 28th by ANATEL. The resolution also grants hams the ability to operate on citizens' band 11 meter frequencies.

Will Rogers

White House bans prediction market betting

A staff wide email from the White House management office put Trump officials on notice over prediction market sites like Koushi and Polymarket. He said it's a criminal offense to use non public information to make money on betting markets about federal policy, military strikes, and war. It comes as a number of suspiciously well timed bets have raised alarms, including 6 figure Polymarket bets on a ceasefire between The US and Iran hours before an announcement was made.

Zverev is more committed to finishing at net

Zverev did a great job coming forward in this match. He was 18 out of 25. He's done a much better job recently when he gets downhill. He is committed. He's very determined to not let the point get back to even. Wasn't always the case. Zverev, at times, has had almost an I'm gonna say it's an Andy Murray like mindset. I'm attacking. If you neutralize me, that's fine. We'll just go back. Zverev is trying to kind of shift gears out of that mentality.

Slow clay conditions challenge Zverev against Sinner

Do I still believe in my pick pre tournament when I said Zverev will beat sinner even though I think Yannick has won eight in a row maybe. I still think circumstantially in in a lot of ways in terms of Sinners, mileage, Zverev's form, the fact that it's on clay where I do think Zverev typically plays his best tennis. Circumstantially, yes. I think officially, I'm gonna stick with my pick because what fun is it to change it now? But watching them play in these conditions, I mean, I recognize the massive challenge challenges for Zverev.

Cuba resists US calls for regime change

President Trump has indicated The US will likely move to take over Cuba, and it's been reported that Canel's departure would be a key part of that. The Caribbean island has been brought to the brink in recent months after The US led a fuel blockade threatening tariffs on any countries that supplied it with oil. The blockade has led to significant power blackouts as well as shortages of food and medical supplies.

Tiger's fame creates an unsustainable level of personal pressure

The point is, he was the single most famous person of our childhood. He was our version of Elvis, and he went completely sideways over the next 10, 12 years. And sometimes I wonder about, you know, if that level of fame and greatness, it seems like it's really hard for a lot of people to handle.

Bill Simmons

Prioritize injury recovery during the clay season

If you have a lingering knee issue, you take the time during the parts of the year where you're probably going to be the least successful. Like, is it smart to play through it, Indian Wells and Miami? Yeah, probably your likelihood of playing through that there and getting a result, it didn't work out for him because there's no script in tennis. But yeah, I mean, if I had something bothering me, I was more likely to try to heal it during the part of the season that was the biggest struggle for me.

Holger Rune targets clay return after Achilles injury

I've just really been maximizing every single day, putting all my effort on recovery, on doing the right things. And, obviously, we have a very, very strict guideline that we follow. It's not it's not just by, oh, I think it's fun to be on the tennis court. I I'm gonna go on the tennis court. It's because I'm allowed to.

1922 conference reshaped early US radio laws

Will takes us aboard the Wayback Machine to 1922, where we find despite several attempts, no successor to the outdated 1912 radio law had yet emerged. Now it could wait no longer since things had changed so radically with the rise of broadcasting. In early March 1922, Secretary of Commerce Herbert Hoover convened the first national radio conference in Washington.

Vacherot matches De Minaur in physical shot tolerance

DMinore hit 10 winners, Vachero only two. But DMinore made 20 unforced errors in the rallies over nine shots, and Vashero only made six. So that gives you an idea of exactly who was trying to take initiative offensively as these rallies dragged on. And there are so many occasions in which Alex was the first one to take on extra risk because he had enough. And that was stunning to see because, generally, it is Demonor who's going to hang in rallies longer than his opponents.
