College tennis quality has never been higher despite cuts

College tennis, in my opinion, outside looking in, I didn't play college tennis. I saw it. I watched it. I was around it nonstop growing up. My brother played four years at Georgia all the time. It's never been a better product. It is simply never been a higher quality of tennis to where, as a fan, if you get a chance to go to these matches, go. The number one player on a team that's top five in the country, sure as shit, like, they're gonna be in a major in the next eighteen months.

Roddick valued anti-doping invasions for sport integrity

I had to live it. I had to live through the inconvenience of it. And for me, it created at least some sort of I always say proudly, whenever we have controversy, I can safely say that we have the most intense testing in all of sports. I love being able to say that. If I was getting woken up at 05:20 by a doorbell, and you have to provide your codes, if you have a gate to your house and the whole thing, if I was getting woken up, then that meant anyone else somewhere in the world was also having the threat of being tested, therefore, probably making the sport cleaner.

Holger Rune targets clay return after Achilles injury

I've just really been maximizing every single day, putting all my effort on recovery, on doing the right things. And, obviously, we have a very, very strict guideline that we follow. It's not it's not just by, oh, I think it's fun to be on the tennis court. I I'm gonna go on the tennis court. It's because I'm allowed to.

Arkansas tennis programs fold due to NIL

Arkansas Tennis is no longer here. But what what's the game what's the path forward, I guess, for, like, Americans that wanna play college tennis? Get better. But how do you I feel like it's it's just that, like what about, like, if you're if you're an 18 year old American, but, like, you're losing a spot to whatever school to Arkansas because they bring over a 21 year old European who's ranked 600 in the world. It's hard to compete with that.

Jannik Sinner targets Masters win streak record

The longest winning streaks on the men's side in the Masters one thousand's history. We've got a bunch of big names. We got the longest streaks are Novak with 31, Novak with 30, Roger with 29 in a row, and Sinner right now actively has 24 wins in a row. I don't see this stopping anytime soon. I see him eclipsing. I see him winning Madrid, winning Rome, and being the the guy with the longest win streak.

Shrimp taco illness affects Madrid players

You see this thing with these shrimp? There's some shrimp bad shrimp tacos been going around. We're talking about the shrimp tacos, guys. That's the rumor. Courier that's it was Courier alluded to that. Right? Like, he'd maybe didn't elude it. He flat out said that. That the shrimp tacos has taken a lot of players out, like, Kilich. Iga. Cilic. Coco Gauff Yep. Ate the tacos and was still able to win despite, like, throwing up on the court.

Gael Monfils sets French record for Masters wins

On Sunday, ranked 200 in the world and playing with a wild card, the 39 year old came back from a set down to beat world number 32 Tallon Griesbauer. That made him the oldest match winner in Monte Carlo since 1973 and gave him a 145 masters one thousand match wins, the most by any French player in history.

Rafa Jodar is Madrid's breakout star

Hodar is the story of the tournament. Right after that match, we're on the desk, and I asked Courier and Goodall. I'm like, is Hodar the main attraction at the tournament right now with Alcaraz? Not there. And they're like, absolutely, he is. Like, more so than center. You know, he's obviously from Spain, but it's so rare that, a player this is his first time playing Madrid. And he steps on the court. He's center court. He's night match every night, and he's the main attraction of the Madrid master series.

Madrid taco scandal coincides with 31 player withdrawals

I think 31 players have withdrawn or retired from the Madrid Open so far across both draws, up from 21 on Friday. 17 women are now either withdrawn or retired in Madrid. Illness clusters mid tournament hit people like, Iga, Sam Sonnava, Maddie Keys. Coco Gauff's throwing up on court and still winning. Chillis was pulled out. So it's it's definitely a little bit all over the place, in terms of people feeling ill, but Coco did say she did not eat the tacos.

American men struggle at Madrid Open

The rest of Madrid, the the Americans, pretty pretty poor, tournament for the Americans. We have none left. Correct? Correct. You know who the real winner is of the Americans in Madrid? It's Francis Tiafoe for not playing. For for not playing. Taylor Fritz. Him and Fritz for not playing, just being home, skipping it. I mean, Fritz is, you know, coming back from injury for but for Francis, it seems like he just skipped it, and it's like, that's great.

Arkansas cuts tennis despite losing less than other sports

Arkansas, SEC school gets rid of the tennis program. The 2025 financial report for Razorback Athletics was reported. And women's tennis and men's tennis are the least of the losers of all of the sports. Football is the only one football makes significant money, made $30,000,000. Men's basketball made $4,000,000. Then women's tennis lost 1,000,000. Men's tennis lost 1,200,000. Now every other sport that's on there, men's golf, women's golf, gymnastics, volleyball, swimming, diving, soccer, softball, baseball, track and field, and then women's basketball at the very bottom all also lost more money individually.

Alcaraz wrist injury echoes Nadal 2016, not del Potro

I mean, I guess one thing we could say and it does look like this is not a tear. And, you know, you you hear wrist and tennis, and immediately, where does your mind go? To some really dark places. Juan Martin del Potro, Dominic Thiem, never the same player. On the other hand, no pun intended. I was thinking ten years ago, Novak's trying to win Roland Garros for the first time, and what happens? He's you know, is he gonna beat Rafa? And then Rafa has a wrist injury. And we all say, Rafa misses Wimbledon. And then by August, he's winning gold medals and doubles and is playing the US Open. So we hope that's what this is.

Andy's mom taught him to vomit mid-court for delays

I remember this is, like, the the shady shit that my mom. She's like, if you ever have to vomit, if you ever like, a junior tennis, it's like, you know, you you're playing in, like, San Antonio where it's a thousand degrees and you happen to play 17 matches in a day as a junior. If you ever have to vomit, go in the middle of court. It's gonna take at least twenty minutes to clean it up. Your mom your mom said that? Yeah. My mom said that. It's next level.

Andy Roddick

Sinner's 24-match Masters 1000 streak is fourth-longest ever

Sinner pumped the gas. He's on a heater right now. Oh, he's on a heater. And listen. I know that I talk a lot of shit about the long masters one thousands. If you have confidence in a bottle and you're like center and you know you're it's gonna be you know, you play one match, you get a day off, you play it's probably easier to commit to to Madrid and Rome in that scenario. He has 24 consecutive wins in Masters one thousand events, which is the fourth longest streak in history only behind Novak who did it with 31, then again did it with 30, and then Roger did it, and then now center.

Andy Roddick

Madrid conditions favor strong server Tsitsipas

I think we've seen the rock bottom from Tsitsipas. And he's on the way back. Yeah. Have we? Yes. I think we have, dude. Like, his first terms of his, like I hope so. Of his level on the court. I mean, he was, like, whiffing backhand returns. I've seen highlights. I've seen stuff with him, like, whiffing returns. You don't think we've seen his rock bottom, Stevie? You think it's getting worse? I don't know, man. There's still people in his box that might bring him down.

NCAA faces crisis as tennis programs are dropped

The challenge is actually that programs have been dropped. So no one's getting the opportunity because the money is going towards NIL. So I actually think it's a bit of a crisis. I think that we gotta, like, lean in big time and, and find a way to stop those programs from being dropped because those are the opportunities.

Rafael Jodar wins 17 of his first 25 ATP matches

The demon win was his first career top 10 win, and then currently, he has 17 wins in his first 25 career ATP matches. That's silly. That's a better start than Nadal, Federer, Novak, Alcarez, Sinner, and Fonseca. We were talking about this on Tennis Channel. Courier gets the hat tip on this. Hodard's, like, top 20 in the rolling rankings. So this is a big week for him. He's from Madrid. He's playing Madrid. It's this real breakthrough tournament, but it's not like he came out of nowhere.

Jon Wertheim

Carlos Alcaraz withdraws from Roland Garros

Alcaraz is out of RG. You know, we see we you know, seen in that photo with his brace on his right wrist. He's clearly he can't get it ready, for Roland Garros. So, like, that's a big bummer. His quote was because after the results of the test carried out today, we've decided that the most prudent thing is to be cautious and not participate in Rome and RG. We will we will wait to assess the evolution of the injury and decide when we will return to the court.

John

Iga Swiatek faces major confidence crisis

In Tennis Channel, we're talk we're going over, like, top five clay quarters right now on the women's side. And I didn't have Iga in my top five, and I kinda got some, like, pushback from it because of her clay court results the last five years. She's been the best over the last five years. But right now, like, she's not like, do you guy and I preface that as, like, I think, like, confidence is the most important trait in tennis. Like, she came into Madrid not having made a semifinal.
