GHK copper peptide promotes hair growth through three distinct mechanisms

GHK copper peptide, abbreviated GHKCU. It's a naturally occurring what's called tripeptide present in human plasma. It works through three mechanisms. It stimulates what are called fibroblasts, which is the the growth of new cells. It promotes new blood vessel formation, so hair follicles receive necessary nutrients. And then it inhibits something called TGF beta to prevent follicles from prematurely shrinking. It also supports what are called dermal papilla cells to simulate hair growth.

You are your own harshest judge at the gym

I used to tell when I was a personal trainer at the gym, I used to tell my clients, look, when you walk into the gym, the person who's judging you most harshly is yourself. Most people don't care that you have cellulite or that you're only bench pressing 50 pounds or that you, look like crap and you're flowing like a muppet on the treadmill. Most people don't care and don't notice, and you're your own harshest judge. And when you begin to judge yourself less harshly and you accept that, you know, as I wrote about recently on my blog, that you can just become the best version of your broken self.

Sleep apnea is the most underdiagnosed cause of cognitive decline

Sleep apnea, probably the single most underdiagnosed cause of cognitive decline in middle age and older adults. You can get a sleep study, or if you just wanna fill around with it, you can wear a device that measures your oxygen consumption and your heart rate during the night. If you see multiple drops in oxygen and rises in heart rate, could be a pretty good sign you have sleep apnea.

Microneedling must reach 1 to 1.8 millimeters to hit follicle stem cells

But the microneedling needles need to puncture the dermis where the hair follicle stem cell resides, and that's about one point o to 1.8 millimeters deep. So you would want a, a microneedling pen that is more than one millimeter deep. A lot of clinical pens will go, like, 1.5 millimeters plus that they'll use in in, like, a cosmetic beauty clinic. If you're going with less of a depth of penetration like 0.5, you can go two to three times per week, but you might not get quite as good results, compared to going deeper.

Modern FUE transplants are gold standard but won't stop ongoing hair loss

Modern FUE, which is called follicular unit extraction, follicular unit extraction, is the gold standard for a receding hairline. That involves taking individual hair follicles from a donor area. It does not stop the progressive loss of your native hair. Meaning that if you have a lifestyle that's full of, let's say, inflammation, poor blood flow to the scalp, poor genetics when it comes to your propensity for hair loss, use of testosterone enhancing therapies that result in a large amount of DHT building up in your body. All of that will continue to occur even if you get a hair transplantation, which means if you don't address the underlying cause of hair loss after a transplant, you'll continue losing the hair that wasn't transplanted and eventually look pretty patchy again.

Creatine at 8+ grams daily improves memory and reduces mental fatigue

Creatine monohydrate kinda has one foot in the realm of a lot of people know about it for memory and cognition, some don't. But there are multiple human randomized controlled trials that show that creatine improves working memory, processing speed, and reduces mental fatigue, particularly under sleep deprivation or cognitive load. You need a slightly higher dose, anywhere in the range of eight plus grams. I, right now, am probably at about ten grams of creatine on a regular day, closer to fifteen to twenty on a sleep deprived or more cognitively demanding day.

Bacopa monnieri requires 8-12 weeks before cognitive benefits kick in

Another one is bacopa monnieri. Bacopa monnieri. That's an Ayurvedic herb that probably has the strongest human evidence base of any of the natural nootropics. So it has been shown to help with language, with learning, with memory. The catch is that it does require consistent use for eight to twelve weeks minimum. With, Bacopa moniare, it's about eight to twelve weeks before the effects really start to kick in.

Worrying about aging accelerates biological aging via epigenetic changes

Having greater anxiety about growing old was associated with accelerated epigenetic aging as measured by epigenetic clocks. And so creating a negative feedback loop, those biological changes could potentially contribute to physical decline and increase vulnerability to aging related diseases. So worrying about aging basically could make you age faster. What is the answer? I think be proactive about your health. Be reasonable. Understand that focusing in love and relationships and family and connection and joy and adventure is just as important as any of these other, you know, lion's mane red light helmet tactics.
