Bhutanβs early Bitcoin mining investment proved highly successful
βI think Bhutan has benefited hugely from Bitcoin. And it was a very smart decision for them to get into Bitcoin mining so early. They have excess hydropower, which produces electricity. And they're in the Himalayan mountains on the India side. It's very expensive and very difficult to transfer those energy from the mountains to other, export them and sell them for money to keep, etc. But when you use those extra power to buy bitcoins or to mine bitcoins, then bitcoins are permanent, durable, easy to transport, holds value.β
Canton uses UTXO models for decentralized state management
βCanton follows a UTXO model that can be validated by multiple parties. You could actually have decentralized composability on Canton, which could not be done in a message-based architecture. So, Canton does do a decentralized state management, which is the idea of a blockchain.β
βFor us, we're trying to make capital markets natively on chain, and there's a lot of features that had to be solved as a result of making that happen. It's actually kind of similar to the internet. The internet is a permissionless piece of infrastructure. Yet if you build a website on the internet, you're not kind of mandated to make your website public permissionless for everyone to be able to access it.β
Canton enables atomic composability with data privacy
βNo other blockchain offers, you know, atomic composition of smart contracts with privacy. So, you know, that's what you can achieve on Canton that you cannot achieve on other blockchains, to the best of my knowledge, including on Pravidium.β
Recessions have been effectively outlawed - record-high global debt levels mean central banks and governments must inject liquidity at the first sign of economic weakness to prevent a total systemic collapse.
βThe central banks and the governments cannot afford a recession because of the debt levels... they will provide liquidity into every single hole.β
AI-driven productivity leads to an era of abundance - the massive deflationary force of AI will collapse the cost of goods and services, shifting the focus of human value from labor to creativity and purpose.
βAI is the ultimate deflationary force. It drives the cost of everything towards zero, leading us into an era of abundance.β
Donald Trump granted CZ a full presidential pardon
βWell, number one is I want to say, very importantly, I'm super appreciative of the President Trump's pardon for me. I think that for me, like, no, it's a level of vindication. So I think that's really, I thought I didn't care too much about it, but after it happened, I do highly appreciate it. And I think that shows the US can go 180 degrees in that direction, which is really good for the US. I think the previous direction for US will leave US without a crypto blockchain industry.β
Orchestration helps AI deviate from consensus thinking
βThe role of the orchestrator or the person controlling AI is to figure out where there are views that are correct, but diverge from the consensus. I had a bunch of orchestration stuff from stuff I'd done otherwise at Gauntlet and pulled some from over here and a little from over there and started piecing it together.β
βKelly has hired her first full-time human employee that works full-time for Kelly and it's been a journey. Quite literally, he reports to Kelly. Let's be real, Kelly is still coming to me for the money at the end of the day, but yeah, technically, he reports to Kelly.β
βSo GIGO Academy right now, I think the meeting I had with them yesterday morning, they're reaching 240,000 students, 240,000 kids learn on the platform for free. That's 10 times bigger than many universities. So and that's like a fairly small team. That's a 50 people team working for like a year and a half, two years. So that's very impactful. That project may have no revenue, but it makes me very, very happy. So all of those things make me happy.β
AI agents require traditional legal LLC structures
βTurns out the laws in the United States don't allow for inanimate objects to create corporations. So it's technically under my name, but incorporating Kelly, so there's Kelly bought LLC in Delaware. But that means Kelly has her own bank account. She has her own crypto token. She has her own... She can sign for stuff.β
βI didn't want to play dominoes with the other inmates. I didn't want to just do the normal things. I worked out. There's a routine. There's a very fixed schedule. You've got to wake up at a certain time. You've got to have breakfast, lunch, dinner at a certain time. There's a lot of lockdowns at a certain time. You get a few hours of free time. I just want to keep myself busy. And then I thought that might be a good time to share that experience.β
Crypto will be invisible standard money in five years
βI'm hoping that we don't talk about crypto as crypto in five years, just as like we don't talk about internet anymore. We don't talk about TCPIP, we don't talk about HTML5 or whatever, JavaScript, etc. We don't talk about that stuff anymore, we just use it. I think in five years, I'm hoping that we'll just use crypto. It's just money, right? It's just the new fintech money. There will be other use cases for the blockchain, for data storage, etc., etc.β
CZ chose voluntary surrender to protect Binance users
βOne is, I would be fine living in the UAE. Like, no, I'm financially okay. I have bitcoins. I have enough bitcoins. No, I can maintain my living standard. I'll be fine. And I can stay home, in a country for a very long time. But I thought if I didn't go, they will probably be fairly severe consequence. There can potentially be fairly severe consequences for Binance. The company may be very... They could indict me. They can indict Binance. The company will be very affected. There will be a lot of negative effects for BNB holders.β
Crypto is the native infrastructure for AI agents - as AI moves toward autonomy, these agents will require permissionless, 24/7 payment rails to exchange value and access resources without the friction of traditional banking.
βAI agents are going to need a way to pay for things, to transfer value, and theyβre not going to have bank accounts; theyβre going to use crypto rails.β
Critics challenge Canton's status as a permissionless blockchain
βI believe, and I would like to understand it better in this debate, that Canton is not really a blockchain. Because if you, like, it's not about the definitions. It's not about semantics. It's really about the properties. When you say blockchain, you're tapping into more than a decade of an industry with certain values, certain value that was generated, some innovations, some new ways of doing things that were not possible before.β
Binance became the largest exchange in five months
βYeah, I think it took us about five months from starting to become the worst largest crypto exchange by trading volume. So that rise was really quick, but we were lucky that we were in what they would call the L-coin 2017 ICO year. But I think the thing that we were able to do that kept our leading position over the last eight years is how we protected users. I think Binance does a lot of things to protect users. Some of which we talk about repeatedly, some we don't talk about, but the real users know that Binance is the exchange that really protects the users, that goes above and beyond.β
Global banks adopt Canton for institutional asset tokenization
βJust today, we announced a partnership in Japan with Mizuho, Nomura and JPX around tokenized JGBs. We announced a partnership with Hanwha, you know, Visa. You mentioned JPMorgan. Last week, it was HSBC payments. And we're just executing on those things.β
βThe crypto rails are really interesting because it works seamlessly and flawlessly. Kelly can send ETH to whomever she pleases, so long as they're accepting ETH as a payment method, which is not always true. So there are some hacks you can use, but the payment rails are slowly catching up to being able to do everything in more crypto land than TradFi land.β
Autonomous agents are crypto's definitive killer app
βAutonomous AI agents is the killer use case the crypto industry has been waiting for. You have marketplaces, then you have commerce, it's all running on crypto rails. And when it exists, I don't see a reason why it would run on fiat.β
